When I posted up the blog for this video it was 4:30am and I was exhausted. So I wanted to write a little explanation about this song and video.
I met Emily in 2008, in Chicago, IL. We had a rough start but she stuck around and waited for me to pull myself back together. Every day I am so grateful to have her in my life.
This song is really about being with someone who makes you feel like you. You feel like a better person when you’re with them. Completely comfortable. They are the kind of person that has you doing tons of things you wouldn’t normally do on your own and no matter what obstacles you face(d) in the past, present or future, you know you’ll be just fine because you love each other.
This is a new song I finished a few nights ago. The song is called “I’ll always say I do” and I wrote it for my best friend and companion. I wanted to write a song about being with someone who makes you feel more yourself and more alive than you ever could on your own. When you’re with them they make you feel like a better person, a little more fun, a little more loved. Every day is a new adventure and no matter what happens between the two of you, you’ll always love them.
The video was put together with footage I’ve collected over the last year. I was just looking through all of it and really wanted to put something together that I could watch to remind myself of how lucky I am. I was going to write a song that would go to the video but realized I had already written something that went along with it perfectly.
I am not the best at editing film but I really loved going through it all.
Everything was shot on my iPhone with the 8mm app and edited in iMovie.
